RMDs and beneficiaries
In Ed’s new book, page 19 he states”..the person you name as beneficiary can affect the required minimum distribution you must take during your lifetime…”
However I do not see where he explains this. Can you clarify this for me?

There are several variations that will affect post death RMDs, but with respect to the owner’s RMD while living, the only situation in which the Uniform Table would not apply would be naming a spousal beneficiary more than 10 years younger as sole IRA beneficiary. Each year of age difference in excess of 10 results in a lower RMD figure based on the joint life and last survivor life expectancy.
