72t Dist, one time change, WHICH TABLE?
Howdy folks.
I’ve got a client under age 59 1/2 that has 72t distributions on going that we’d like to significantly reduce. I understand the calculation but what life expectancy table is supposed to be used? Rev Ruling 2002-62 simply states “the chosen life expectancy table”. Do I get to pick the one I want?
Thanks,
Jason

Client can use the Single Life Table or the Uniform Table (or the Joint Life Table if spouse is more than 10 years younger), depending how low he/she wants to lower the payment to. These tables are all in IRS Pub. 590, found at IRS.gov; or on Ed’s website.
