reconstituting Roth 401k contributions

My client contributed $15,500 in 2008 to his Roth 401k. The value is now down to 10k.
Can the Roth 401k contribution be reconstituted as a traditional 401k contribution (like the Roth IRA can)?
If so what is the deadline to do so?

No, there is no option to recharacterize or otherwise change the nature of pre tax or Roth 401k contributions other than those cases where an excess deferral has occurred, or there is a violation of the non discrimination provisions of the plan.
