Roth conversion of an IRA holding hedge fund investment

I have a client who ‘carved out’ a part of his individual IRA a few years back to invest in a hedge fund. He is interested in converting this IRA to a Roth IRA in 2010. Do you see any problems given how the account is invested?

No problem in converting. There might already be a problem if the hedge fund holds a prohibited investment, but that’s a different problem whether a conversion is done or not.
