Inherited IRA Disclaimer
Can an individual disclaim an inherited IRA and direct the proceeds to a charitable organization, in this instance a church? The individual is one of five beneficiaries for the same IRA. Or by disclaiming, would their 20% interest be distributed among the remaining beneficiaries?

Unless the beneficiary designation otherwise provides, if a beneficiary disclaims, the disclaimed interest passes as if he/she had predeceased the IRA owner. The beneficiary can’t direct how the disclaimed property will go.
