IRA to IRA rollover one year rule

If I rollover a 401k to an IRA, and then want to transfer that IRA to another IRA (custodian to custodian) within the same year….does that fall under the one year limit rule? I know it would if the original source was an IRA instead of a 401k, but not sure in this case? Thanks for your help!

There are no limits for custodian to custodian transfers of IRA accounts. You can do as many as you wish. But the transfer from the 401k TO the IRA also does not count, so you could do a 60 day rollover now instead of the transfer if you wanted to. But it is safer to save your 60 day rollovers for emergencies and just do the direct transfers if possible.
