Not A Hardship

What if you take out money from an IRA and it is not a hardship, will there be any penlties with with the IRS?

There are a few exceptions to the early withdrawal penalty when you are under 59.5. They generally are limited to higher education and medical related expenses or for health nsurance if you are collect unemployement for at least 12 weeks. But nothing for general debt related bills. The penalty is 10% of the taxable amount.
