RMD’s for an Inherited IRA. Which table to use..

I know the non-spouse beneficiary for an inherited or Beneficiary IRA has the single life table available for determining their annual required minimum distribution but can they have the option of using a joint life expectancy table using their spouse much like rmd’s for husband and wife over age 70 1/2?

No, they are limited to the single life table, and also a non spouse beneficiary must reduce the initial divisor by 1.0 in each succeeding year. This is known as “non recalculation” of their initial age. Therefore, the table itself only needs to be carefully checked for the first RMD in the first RMD year, since the divisor is reduced by 1.0 each year thereafter.
