RMD question
IF a husband and wife each have a Traditional IRA and are both over 70.5, when they calculate their RMD for each account can they combine the total amount and take it out of one or the other if they file married and joint return?

The RMD for each person has to be taken from each person’s individual account. You cannot combine the accounts to determine the RMD and then take the total RMD from one account. This reply assumes there in no inherited IRA involved. Tom D.
