RMD actual date
I turn 70 on 6/25/2014 and therefore 70 1/2 on 12/25/2014. Can I make my RMD anytime during 2014 or do I have to actually wait until 12/25/2014? I know that I can make the RMD up to 4/15/2015 but I would prefer to do in in the tax year of 2014 to lessen the tax bite.

You can take your RMD distribution at any time of the year. You might be thinking about how the RMD distribution will affect the taxability of any social security benefits and your withholdings to cover your tax liability. Tom D.
