IRA payable to estate with a charitable bequest in LWT

I have a (not subject to estate tax) probate estate that includes an IRA without a designation (defaulting to the estate) or with a designation of the estate. The Will includes several charitable bequests. Can’t I have the IRA payable to those charities (and thus avoid passing this asset through the probate estate)? I remember an IRS ruling on this years ago but cannot find it. Anyone able to provide me support for this? Thanks.
