should I panic yet?

Good morning all,

First, I know last week was a bad week for everyone in the Market.

Okay, here’s my story. I had been laid off from work, went on SSDI (legally blind) and, in May, rolled over my 401k to a brokerage IRA (at Citibank/Pershing). I made around 4,000 since then, but last week wiped out those profits. I am still around $500 ahead on my initial investment, so at least I haven’t lost anything yet. Now, I had been in the 401k plan at work for 20 years, so I know it is just “on paper” right now, and it goes up and down in cycles, and I usually didn’t panic until I lost a few grand. the portfolio (mostly mutual funds) that the financial advisor invested me in has down well in the last 5 years, so that is a good thing.

If this upcoming week is another slam, I probably will at least call and talk to my financial advisor for some reassurance and/or direction, but in the meantime, what do you all think? Is it too soon to panic?

Thanks in advance!

Al
