Online 2014 contribution made on 4/14/2015 but electronically reversed

I made my online 2014 contribution on 4/14/2015 to 5 different funds in my and my wife’s IRA from my bank savings account to the institution handling our IRA’s. Two of the transactions were reversed after my bank rejected the transfer due to exceeding the allowable ACH Transactions per month. I had checked online on the 15th to make sure the contribution orders were correct and that there were sufficient funds in the savings account to cover the transactions. Everything was good. I don’t use this savings account much so I did not look at it again until May 5th and found that two transactions did not go through.

I have contacted both institutions to correct my 2014 contributions but they won’t. This means I will have to file an amended return and pay a large amount of additional taxes.

Is there another alternative to have these two reversed transactions corrected and applied to my 2014 contribution so I don’t have to file an amended return and pay the additional taxes?

Jerry

There is no relief, short of being in a disaster zone that is specifically given an extension to make a contribution, for not having made a contribution by the tax filing deadline.
