Self employed 401k
I am starting a self employed traditional 401k…I am the only employee and only participant in the plan. It appears that the IRS requires a self employed to use an EIN instead of a Social Security number. I have earned income this year under my Social…Is it acceptable to go ahead and make my contributions for 2015 and take the tax deduction since I file a schedule C and both the social security number and the new EIN are on the top of the first page of the C, even though the income was earned under my SS# and not EIN?
Also…My wife is self employed in a different business and in the same situation and wanting to do the same thing…Any issues?
Thank you so much for your help!

The EIN is not required on your 1040 or Sch C. Use your SS # for income tax filing. The EIN # is only for the solo K account and checking account. Same for your spouse.
