IRA Contribution Deadline – Following Natural Disaster
Can a 2015 contribution be made to an IRA if the IRS has extended the filing deadline due to natural disaster? Due to the recent flooding, a client has received an extension until January 2017 to file 2015 returns. Can the client make an IRA contribution until that January deadline?

If not sure of the answer in the proper context (April 15), but this is not the proper context. The IRS is only extending the already “extended” October 17th deadline for tax filing. It is totally moot because you long missed the April 15th IRA contribution deadline which can not be extended.
