Inherited vs. Beneficiary IRA

Is there a difference between an inherited IRA and beneficiary IRA?

Generally, there is no difference. Some custodians refer to inherited IRAs as “BDA” accounts which stands for beneficiary distribution account. In some respects an IRA inherited from a spouse is treated differently because a sole spousal beneficiary can either treat themselves as a beneficiary OR as the owner.
