403″A” Distirbutions/rollovers

Can you comment on the ways to roll over a 403″a”? Is the rollover simply a transfer to a NQ account and pay the taxes on the portion that was put in by the employer plus growth? Any other comments?

These plans are not included in the IRS rollover chart even though they are qualified plans. However, it might be possible to get these plans into an IRA by first rolling them into a 403b, then the 403b can be rolled into an IRA. Suggest directing specific plan questions to the 403a annuity plan administrator. TIAA CREF may be able to comment generally on this. Note that for a 403a ALL contributions must be made by the employer, so any distributions would be 100% taxable.
