Aggregating Roth 401k & Pre tax 401k RMDs from the same plan?

We will be rolling the Roth 401k to a Roth IRA to avoid this moving forward, but for 2018 can we aggregate the RMDs? If so, where in the IRS code?

Thanks

You can aggregate the RMDs between the Roth 401k and the pre tax 401k if the plan permits (IRS Reg 1.401(a)(9)-8 Q 2). The 401k RMD must be distributed prior to the rollover to the Roth IRA. If the pre tax 401k is not being rolled over along with the Roth 401k, because of aggregation the entire RMD would have to come from the Roth 401k.
