Roth IRA distributions and Medicaid Eligibility

May not be appropriate here, but wondering if Roth IRA distributions are counted as income for Medicaid eligibility.  Obviously, there are no RMDs on Roth IRA, and the distributions from Roth IRA do not show up as taxable income on tax return, so wondering if they are counted as income against the modest income limits for Medicaid eligibility.  Also understand there are different rules in different states.  Perhaps there’s a good resource online to point me to? Thanks in advance – m

MAGI for Medicaid purposes does not count non taxable Roth and IRA distributions, but it does include tax exempt interest and the non taxable portion of SS benefits. As you indicated, there could be some state exceptions.

Ok, thanks.  Any good resources for deeper understanding? -m
