U.S. Savings I-Bonds
Is there any way to transfer U.S. Savings I-Bonds in-kind into an IRA, Roth IRA or other tax-deferred or tax-free account? I have some I-Bonds purchased in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 paying around 6.0% that will have about $500,000 in deferred interest at their 30-year maturity dates. It would be nice to spread these out over more than four years without giving up the great interest rate.

No, because all IRA contributions must be made in cash, or by rollover from a qualified account such as a 401k or another IRA. Depending on your IRA brokerage firm it may be possible to purchase such securities with funds that are already in your IRA.
