Esop inheritance question

I inherited esop stocks that my father was 100% vested in. The issue comes from that I was unaware of this inheritance and it was 20 years ago. I was going through paperwork my mother had from my father and found the paperwork. They had only sent the one paper and no follow up. Do I still have rights to the esop stocks? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Depends on several things. For one, the shares may have been escheated to the state by now. Are these shares of a large publicly traded company, or privately held?  If small, the company could have failed or if large could have gone through a couple mergers or acquisitions by now. Did your mother inherit these first and she is deceased now?  You will have to narrow this down considerably to determine where you stand and it may take some time to investigate given the time period.

The company is a large company(Parsons).  The company at the time was private but became publically traded a few years ago.  My mother had the paperwork but did not realize.  I am the one who inherited them.  I am in the process of talking to the company but trying to get any information I can.
