Our EIN for trust account was just filed and the legal name on the EIN app for the trust is incorrect in that the wrong date was used: creation date of trust in May vs signed/notarized date which was 1 month later in June. This is going to create a problem with at minimum one of the IRA accounts because the Custodian has the June trust date. The deed to her property also explains there is a revocable trust (now irrevocable) with the June date, so I can foresee more issues down the road.

So now we either go with it and perhaps have the attorney write up some opinion letter that explains the discrepancy, or we try to correct the EIN issue. Suggestions as to the easier route… or a different route to manage this problem? Is requesting a whole new EIN out of the question?
