Traditional IRA beneficiary disclaims inheritance
The decedent owned a traditional IRA and she listed one of her 4 children as the sole beneficiary. Is it possible for this beneficiary to disclaim 75% of the inheritance and then receive his 25% and the other 3 siblings receive their 25% as an inherited IRA?

Perhaps, but the first the IRA beneficiary clause must be checked to determine the default beneficiary for the disclaimed portion. The disclaimant cannot re inherit any of the disclaimed portion or the disclaimer is invalid. For example, if the decedent’s estate is the default beneficiary and there is a will that names the disclaimant as a beneficiary of any portion of the estate, then a disclaimer must also be filed with the executor to disclaim any portion otherwise reinherited under the will.
