client age 73 and still working, but wants to rollover 401k – when to take RMD

Hello, I have a client who is still working at age 73, and wants to do an in service rollover of her 401k. If the company allows it, when does she have to start taking the RMD from her rollover IRA? Thanks!

Her IRA RMDs must reflect the increased value of the 401k rollover in 2023. 2022 RMDs will not be increased  unless she fails to remain employed into January, 2023 as retirement in 2022 would turn 2022 into an RMD distribution year for the 401k.
