RMD from IRA and 457 plan

Parent died in 2007. I inherited an IRA, and a 457 plan. I am required to take a RMD distribution from both, each year.

Can I total the RMDs, and take that aggregate yearly RMD amount from both accounts, out of one account….or the other account……or in any amounts that I choose? As long as I take the proper aggregate total amount?

Or must I take the proper amount from EACH retirement account?

You must take the RMD separately from each account. The only RMDs that can be aggregated are owned IRAs with other owned IRAs, or 403b plans with other 403b plans.  Inherited IRA RMDs can be aggregated if inherited from the same original decedent.

Thank You.
