EDB chronically ill / disabled.
I inherited an IRA last year and also stopped working due to chronic illness at age 62. What do I have to do to show I qualify as an EDB ( disabled or chronically ill) ? Is there a form I need to complete? I did not apply for SSDI, but I receive 100% disability benefit from my private disability policy.

Ask your MD for a letter stating that you qualified as disabled under the definition in Sec 72(m)(7) on the date of death or chronically ill per Sec 7702B(c)(2). Provide a copy to your IRA custodian if they ask for it.
