IRA RMD the year of death
What I need to know is if a person over age 70 1/2 is receiving RMD from his IRA and he dies .If he has not taken the year of death’s RMD can the estate do it before it is given to his benficiary?
thank you

No, if the IRA has a named bene, it belongs to the bene, not the estate. The bene must take it out before it is transferred to an inherited IRA. Al
