WHat is a good reason to IRS for late IRA RMD
What would the IRS consider a “good reason” for RMD? Client had spouse go into assisted and changed custodians. Sound reasonable?

I think restricting the reason to acute medical conditions of a spouse would more than suffice. Bringing up the change of custodians just illustrates that client DID have time to think about the IRA account and make a change, so it dilutes the medical reason somewhat. The IRS seems most understanding of medical reasons.
