How can I rid my IRA of S Corp stock?
I have a chunk of stock in a privately help c corp that will be converting to an S corp. I understand the the IRA will not tolerate S Corp stock holdings.
I think I can just “buy” the stock out of the IRA, swapping in cash. I’m wondering if there are more efficient ways to do this, however. One Idea I had was doing a value in kind stock swap. For example, I would swap out the s corp stock for an equal value of publicly held company stock. Will this work?
