Ownership form for a Roth IRA for a Special Needs Trust
How do you retitle a Roth IRA to a Grantor trust and the grantor is the same person as the original Roth IRA owner without creating a distribution.

I doubt if this even can be done. PLR 2006 20025 only established the right of an IRA special needs beneficiary to put his inherited IRA into an SNT as a grantor trust. Other uses of SNTs involve legal settlements and or the original IRA owner naming an SNT as IRA beneficiary. I don’t see where there is any precedent for an owner’s IRA created from his own earnings being placed in trust. Perhaps Bruce Steiner can comment further on this.

I agree with Alan.
