mistake
My assistant gave me an “individual” account form to open for a new client instead of an IRA account form. We overnighted the account apps and money to Fidelity for both 2007 and 2008 contributions.
Am I (and my client) SOL? in terms of the 2007 contributions. ie is there a way to fix this? I can just “journal” over the 2008 contributions, but Fidelity will not accept any for 2007?
Please advise

Unfortuneately, there is no way to get a 2007 contribution done at this date barring 100% culpability by Fidelity. I hope it was a Roth contribution because otherwise this will also trigger an amended return unless on extension.

Unless you can explain to Fidelity that it is a “Scrivener’s Error” and they agree to correct it retroactively.
