RMD

Can a 403 b plan be combined with a traditional IRA to compute the RMD for 2008? Then can the RMD be taken from just the 403B plan?

No.
A 403b plan can only be aggregated with another 403b plan for that owner. (See Pub 575, p 33).

No. If there is more than one 403B annuity; all 403B annuities can be combined for determining the RMD. The RMD can be taken from just one 403B plan rather than pro rata.

Same rule for IRAs, calculate the RMD from each IRA that has the same original owner; add the RMDs and take the total amount from one or some of the IRAs.

You can’t cross species though. The IRA and 403B RMDs must be determined separately and they cannot fulfill the RMD requirment for each other.

Thank you for the great help.
