The cost will vary amoung providers. It will also vary depending on the 401 (k) design. If for example if there is a loan provision it may cost a little more. It however, should not be generally more expensive than the 401 (k) plan or perhaps in some cases $50. more per account. Depending on the plan and what the employer is trying to accomplish I would think the added expense would not be meaningful.
