Deadline for Roth Converison in 2008…?
Hello,
I’m really frustrated in having to bother the board with this question, after spending mucho time going thru Pub 590 looking for the answer… and not finding it.
Anyhow, I’m hoping I can do a 2008 IRA conversion to Roth up until the 4/15/09 tax filing deadline. Can anyone confirm….?

Sorry, the TIRA distribution that funds the conversion must be taken by 12/31/08. If done by indirect rollover, the next 60 days can be used before actually funding the Roth IRA. The Pub 590 reference is the opening paragraph on p 29 under “Converting From Any Traditional IRA into a Roth IRA”.
