Estate Taxes

We are approaching December 1st. Is there any news on 2010 rules for Estate Taxes or is Congress going to allow the Estate Tax to lapse in 2010?

Nothing new. Congress is tied up with Healthcare reform. This will be a last minute issue, and should not take too much time to simply extend the current exclusion for one more year. There is also some pressure to extend the IRA charitable contribution for another year. I would still bet that we will not see the estate tax disappear in 2010.

I find it very disconcerting that so many issues are left to the last minute! This does not inspire confidence in the efficacy of Congress!
