Convert Traditional IRA to Roth IRA Now for 2009 Tax Year?
Can I do a conversion from a Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA now (or before 4/15/2010) for my 2009 tax year (1/1/2009 through 12/31/2009)?
I am thinking I would have had to have done it by 12/31/09, but am hoping I could still do the conversion for my 2009 tax year. Please let me know what the timing constraints on this are.
Thank you,
Kevin Thom.

You would have had to at least take your TIRA distribution by late December, and then you would have 60 more days to roll it over to a Roth IRA. But if the distribution was not taken out in 2009, then you cannot make a 2009 conversion.
