could you refer me to a list of companies that offer this type of an IRA. we have an employer that is asking for the cheapest kind of retirement plan for his employees and is thinking payroll deduction IRA.

Do you mean a SIMPLE IRA? or do you mean the employer simply wants to offer his employees the convenience of funding their own IRA accounts via payroll deductions? That wouldn’t really be the employer offering any kind of retirement plan, as each person can find their own IRA custodian that can set up a direct deposit from their paychecks to fund their IRA accounts.
