Contribution to a deceased person’s IRA?

Can a spouse make a 2012 IRA contribution to her husband’s IRA if he died in 2012? The IRA is still in his name.

No, but if he had earned income in 2012 before passing, that income could be used to make a spousal IRA contribution for the surviving spouse if the surviving spouse did not reach 70.5 by the end of 2012.
