Where to send the IRA rollover check

I have company 401k and plan to do a rollover to my Fidelity Rollover IRA account. To avoid the 20% tax withholding, I know the check must be payable to the IRA account. My question is :Must the check be sent to Fidelity office directly ? Can they send the check to me and I take it to the fidelity office ? Thanks.

The check can be sent to you and then forwarded to Fidelity and it is still a direct rollover. The payee on the check must be your IRA custodian FBO (for benefit of) you. Most plans mail checks to the employee, but not payable to the employee.

Thanks..
