NUA
Ed, you spoke to us years ago and mentioned NUA. I saw something that said it was closed by the IRS several years ago. However, it still comes up in IRS pub 575.
Does NUA still exist as it did back in 2005?
Thanks

There have been no recent changes to NUA tax provisions, certainly none since 2005. NUA is most useful when the cost basis is under 30% of the stock value, or more than 30% if the taxpayer intends to raise money by taking a large distribution from the plan that would be taxed at ordinary income rates in the near future.
