Annuities

The other day day Ed was on our local Atlanta PBS station.

He was advocating (as one maneuver for retirement) to invest in financially sound companies offering guaranteed annuites. These annuities would continue of course after my death to my heirs.

My question is who are the top fiscally sound annuity companies that I should be looking at in 2014?
