Canadian receiving a 1099
If a Canadian investor uses a Canadian broker, and the Canadian broker trades on a U.S. stock exchange, will the Canadian investor receive a 1099?

The question is far removed from the subject of this site, and I do not know the answer. Someone else might post one, but a general tax site might get you an answer. Perhaps the Canadian citizen will receive the same form they would had the trade been made on the Canadian exchange. If a US investor places a trade with a US broker that is executed on a foreign exchange, they probably will receive a 1099B.
