How far back is it worthwhile retaining printed issues of the IRA Advisor?

A current subscriber to Ed Slott’s IRA Advisor has printed copies of it from January 2000 on. How far back is it worth his retaining these issues which he prefers to viewing them online, considering the IRA-related changes in the past 15 years?

I think that several of the older issues are still valid to a limited extent, however the older the issue the more likely that it contains more dated information. The only way to be sure is to go through them one by one, but if general guidelines are desired to save time, I think the first two years could be tossed because the 2002 RMD Regs were issued in May, 2002. Anything after that date should be current with respect to RMDs, but anything to do with portability is subject to changes right up to the present. Therefore, portability issues are the most likely to be obsolete due to continually expanded options, isolation of basis and restricted rollover rules, the last two subjects just changing in 2014. There have also been a few PLRs along the way that altered earlier conditions.
