They are the same, unless I am missing some exception. Qualified annuities typically include a J&S option, but that more or less operates as a change of both ownership and annuitant to spouse after death of the participant. The owner vrs annuitant driven contracts apply to NQ annuities. Again, there may be some exceptions I am overlooking.
