Generally, there is no difference. Some custodians refer to inherited IRAs as “BDA” accounts which stands for beneficiary distribution account. In some respects an IRA inherited from a spouse is treated differently because a sole spousal beneficiary can either treat themselves as a beneficiary OR as the owner.
