Employer wants to change from a 403b to a SIMPLE plan in March
We have a small, private school that wants to roll their 403b to a SIMPLE Plan. If I am correct, that can’t be done. But can the employer cease the 403b and begin a SIMPLE in the same calendar year? Thank you. Mary

No, they will have to wait until next January 2018, with notification to employees sent by 11/2/2017. See B-3 of Notice 98-4 here: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/not98-4.pdf
