Spousal Benefits

I am 71 and collecting Social Security. My wife is 66 and is not yet collecting Social Security.
Can my wife collect spousal benefits (one half of my social security) and defer collecting her Social Security
and let it grow, even though her current social security would be greater than her spousal benefits. Then in
the future switch over to collecting her own social security that would be greater than her spousal benefit.

What steps does she need to take and what does she tell Social Security to do this?

Thank you for you response. I did purchase Ed Slott’s, “The Retirement Savings Time Bomb…over
10 years ago.
