inherited IRA(s), heirs, community property
I am the beneficiary of an inherited IRA (non spousal), and am taking RMDs. I live in a community property state.
Am I required to make my spouse the primary beneficiary of this inherited IRA? Or can I name my children, or the trust FBO the children, which was created by the decedent?

You can name anyone or any entity you want as your beneficiary, and the custodian should not be requesting a spousal waiver because inherited assets are not community property, they are separate property.

Are the the RMDs from a (non-spousal) inherited IRA community property?
