Investing in Mortgages
It seems to me that investing IRA money in individual mortgages on single family homes at a low loan to value is the best, safest way to go. Getting an almost guaranteed 7 or 8% return with monthly interest is the perfect investment for compounding an growing an IRA. I am looking for ways of finding such mortgages. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That is not investing, it is speculating. What could possibly go wrong. If want to speculate, do it in a taxable account. Where to can carry-forward capital losses. At least with peer-peer lending. You can spread your risk around like a larger mortgage company. Even then as Prosper, Lending Club, et… demonstrated there is major risk that in most cases is not adequately compensated by the returns. Any individual with a low loan to value ratio and commands such a high interest rate. Screams run!
