403(b) “In-Service Withdrawal”

We have a 62 year old client who is a pharmacist at a local hospital. He approached us wanting to do an ” In-Service Withdrawal” with a portion of his 403(b). He plans on working another 4 or 5 years. I did not know how to address his wishes. Are the “In-Service Withdrawal” rules different as it pertains to 403(b)’s?

Post 59.5, the plan provisions determine what the non hardship distribution options are. Some allow them, many do not. Client will have to check with the plan.
